Another!

es, the transfer doctrine is out and I am staying in Rolling Hills Wichita. But my new companion will be.... SISTER MOFFAT!!! I served with her in Manhattan! So we already know each other really well! She was Sister Clerico's companion in the MTC. It's cool. Haha! But that means that my beloved Sister Forsgren is moving out and heading for Lawrence which is the rival College town (KSU) against Manhattan (K-State) So she's basically betraying me. HAHA! Just kidding I don't care about sports :) But this upcoming transfer should be good!
Sister Forsgren has been seeing the chiropractor for the last few days which has been fun. The Doctor's a member from her first ward and they're really good friends. So we had fun and chatted a lot while he adjusted my compy. We actually have an appointment today in like 30 minutes so my time's a little short. AGAIN. This whole time management thing is rough.
As far as the work goes, Not so eventful. Balinda and Mariah didn't come to church AGAIN. We're a little worried about them. Our wonderful faithful fellowship is kind of taking over. We went to visit them at the beginning of the week only to find out that our fellowship had already taught Balinda about temples and Baptism for the dead. Which is cool because temples are great, but we'd be more comfortable if we were the ones teaching... ya know? The mantle, being set apart, all really important to teaching. But she's such a great support for Balinda and completely needed. That's how it should be! But it'd be nice if we got more of a word in here and there. Soooo pray for them please! And pray for me that I can know how to help them progress.

We went tracting a LOT trying to find new investigators and no luck. Well yes luck but no one super solid just yet. We walked through the ghetto trying to find people to talk to, and there are just so many Catholics here! Life is rough. Speaking of rough we saw this huge fake dog in some lady's yard so we took a picture:
I still can't find my glasses. I feel like I'm not a hipster anymore and am having a bit of an identity crisis ;) haha! JOKES! But really Seeing is hard work! We sang For the Beauty of the Earth in sacrament meeting and I had to have my own copy of music to basically hold to my face so I could see the words. MORE BLIND THAN I THOUGHT I WAS. It's ok I'll keep praying. While you're praying for me might as well pray that I find my glasses too ;) haha!

We had a miracle Sunday last night though! MIRACLE SUNDAYS! They're the best! So basically the whole week was discouraging and we weren't motivated to do ANYTHING. But the last 3 hours of Sunday we just went out and TALKED TO PEOPLE. More like people were out for us to talk to! Sawwweeet! We met this neat lady named Christi who's moving in a few weeks so we'll see if we can't get the fire burning and then pass her off :)

Anywho I'm seriously out of time. Sorry I didn't respond individually to anyone but we got to GO! Ok LOVE YOU!

Cold. My Toes are Cold!

HIII!
SO to start out the email. It was a pretty rough week. BAD NEWS. Jennifer got scared and isn't talking to us as much. She did the whole we appreciate your visits and praying with us, BUT... lots of excuses. Seriously we could not get a straight reasonable reason for why she doesn't want to move forward. We're worried that she might have been anti'd. But her girls still LOVE us! We "were in the neighborhood and really had to use the bathroom" So we stopped by and Jennifer was "asleep" But the rest of the family was really excited to see us. So we're going to keep working with them, but we're going to slow down. Sad day :(

Really though after that we had a hard time recovering. We helped the activity day girls memorize the 7th article of faith and afterword's I asked a member if she'd take us out for hot chocolate. We did and we had a nice uplifting chat :) Warmed us from the inside out :)

OH. BY THE WAY. It's FREEZING HERE!!! But really! We were without the car this week. Seriously the minute we gave the keys to the elders last Monday the temperatures DROPPED. So we've been bundling and biking and living off of hot chocolate :)

Balinda and Mariah are still doing SO well! We are so excited for them! We saw them almost every day this week and had some great lessons with them! So many tears! Balinda's husband bill is really sick and got phenomena Saturday and was admitted to the hospital. We drove out to east side of town with a member to visit them, and the Elders gave Bill a blessing. SO MUCH SPIRIT! We're really hoping that his heart will soften and that he will be willing to learn more and investigate for himself :)

Well dears I am out of time!

WAIT!!!! I almost forgot! Duh! We had a Big mission meeting with Elder Schwitzer from the 70! And we're basically best friends ;) haha! Just kidding, but he did ask me to role play with him a baptismal invite and there was no way that I could've said no to that man. The love of Christ was in his eyes. SO COOL. So yeah, learned a LOT.

Ok really my companion's giving me the look.
LOVE YOU ALL BYE!!!!

Muricul!

heeELLLOO!!!!! :)
OH WOW! Really folks, this week has been SO great! I tell ya.
Miracle number one:
Balinda and Mariah. I'm not sure If I've talked about these two ladies before, but they are GOLDEN! Mariah is 12 and Balinda is her Grandma. They are from Oklahoma and they want to be baptized on December 24th. So the very first time that I met Balinda, she was basically trying to drop us saying that she just didn't think she would ever be a Mormon and  Mariah wouldn't even come out to see us. Not so promising. BUT! about 2 weeks ago we FINALLY taught the plan of salvation. They both just soaked it in. Balinda has a bit of a learning disability and didn't quite understand everything but Mariah is really good at summarizing what we say for her grandma :) We came back a few days later and Balinda told us that she and Mariah read the Plan of Salvation pamphlet together and prayed to know if it was true. She told us that Mariah knew it was true and that "they had to do this together" SO GREAT! Their hearts just OPENED! Well last Saturday we helped them move to a new place just around the corner.
(Quick side story: Balinda and Mariah were found because they stopped Sister Forsgren and her last companion from knocking on this sex offender's house. Well the new place they were moving into was right behind said offender's house. We had been going around his place to walk stuff over when he came out to let us walk through his yard to save time. I noticed he was wearing a white tee shirt.. and it looked very familiar...... PLOT TWIST. It was a garment top..... excommunicated????)
ANYWAYS. After moving everything the elders gave Balinda a blessing to help her quit smoking and that's when Mariah told us that they wanted to get baptized on the 24th of December! It was so spiritually and we were all tearing up! PLUS! The 24th is conveniently Noche Blanca which we did last year where the mission invites everyone to be baptized on Christmas eve so we can have a white night in Kansas! So we're supper stoked!
Miracle number two:
Jennifer and her girls: Jennifer is the mom lady that we found last week by awkwardly helping her move. SHE IS ELECT. I'm telling you this girl is so in tune with the spirit. We had such a good lesson on Thursday. We talked about her life, her worries, problems, and other concerns and we connected so well. After we recited Joseph Smith's first vision she said that her swelled. Then she started to cry. The spirit just hit her so hard and she really needed it in her life. SO. we invited her to a church tour for Saturday night and we went on splits with some of the young women for a stake activity. I got stuck going to dinner, but got to talk to the wife's less active husband. I was just all over the place. The poor young women thought I was crazy. I hope she still wants to serve a real mission ;) BUT Sister Forsgren had the church tour with Jennifer and her two daughters (Katie 12 the Marissa 9) and pretty much it was amazing, there were tears, and now Jennifer and Marissa are going to get baptized on the 29th of November!!! WOO!!! SO INCREDIBLE. Katie is apprehensive but I'm confident that after going to mutual and making friends her heart will soften. But man the church is TRUE!!!!
Well basically that was the week. God is good. Life is good. The book is blue the gospel's true.
OH! We had dinner with our neighbors Cj and Alex. More tears. and lots of beer. Cj likes beer a lot. They're really good people though and are going places :)
I lost my glasses :'( I CAN'T READ STREET SIGNS! :( I'm still praying and looking... sucks to suck.
Alright friends I love you so much!!! have a great week!!!

Just another Week in the Heartland

Hola mi familia! Guess what? I'm basically out of time for emails. Oops :) I've been very distracted. We don't do our emails at the library her in Wichita. There's a family history library in our building so it's less intense and way easier to just talk to all the missionaries and not pay attention to your time. So my bad. I will work on that for next time. First off here is picture of my beautiful companion! Da da da DAAA!

SISTER FORSGREN! I've been spelling her name wrong this whole time. It's en not in. Sorry sister.

We had a pretty crazy week though. My compy was sick and what not. But we were still able to see miracles and find some pretty rockin peeps.

I think my favorite thing about rolling hills is the members. They are fantastic and just love their missionaries so much! I don't think I've ever felt as welcomed as I have here. It's a dream.

Ok I'm sorry my email have been so short and lacking but I promise next week we will have some crazy stories for you! Mainly it's my year mark Thursday and there will be fire. WOOOO! :) Ok I love you all so much! Have a great week and remember how precious everyone is to our Heavenly Father. Go and make someone's day!
Love,
Sister Herrin

Slight Change of Scenery

HI! I'm in Rolling Hills Wichita and LOVING IT! My companion is super great! Sister Forsgrin! We're already besties. Easy.

I wish I had pictures for you but I forgot my cord so double the pictures next week!!!
Tuesday I spent most of the day saying goodbye to everyone. Roxy was sooo sad to see me leave. She said that I was like the angel who came down to Alma the younger and brought him back to the church. It was so sweet! But then I rebuked her and told her to flippen go to church! haha! With love of course :) I just hope that she can keep up the faith. She and Sister Call didn't click as well.

Gosh I miss Sister Call like crazy! Even though we were together for only a transfer it felt like we'd been comps the whole time! But she's training in good old Manhattan, so life is good :) ALSO! Sister Gunderson, my dear child, IS FINALLY TRAINING! Which makes me a Grandma!! It feels so nice to finally have some posterity! haha!

But I already love so many of the members and investigators in Wichita! It's crazy how you can just go from one area to the next and it still feels like home :)

Well I'm out of time but it's been a great week and I'm really excited to get know the area! I hope you all have a good one! Keep me in your prayers!

Love,
Sister Herrin

Manhattan - I'm leaving Manhattan

TRANSFER DOCTRINE IS IN: I'm finally moving!!!!!! To Wichita.... again.... But it's in a different zone and on the complete other side of Wichita so it should be an adventure :) And my Companion will be Sister Forsgren who is the bomb! Love her already! So life should be good! and fun! There will just be a LOT of packing :) lots of it. I have a ton of stuff.

I already said goodbye to Patricia and Samuel. They're the bee's knees and I'm going to miss them so much! They promised to send pictures of the baby when she comes in a few weeks :)
They now have two kittens and Samuel finally finished the Baby's room. So cute! They're going to be fantastic parents. I will miss them :(

But we had a pretty darn good week! Numbers wise. Emotional health wise... haha I've seen better days. But despite my weaknesses the Lord provided many miracles and We were able to see his hand extended.

Well my mind is drawing a blank for much else that happened this week, but I have a nice picture so that should make up for the short email right? right.
LOVE YOU ALL!!! :)
